“The idea for this painting started from the film “Rocky” and the image I used comes from the movie’s publicity poster. The story of Rocky is about a man that fought against impossible odds to become a World Champion. Nelson Mandela fought against what seemed to be insurmountable odds and became recognized as one of the world's greatest leaders. Depicting him as an older man but fight ready says that he wielded power, when he spoke, the world listened.…
As an artist, he is constantly fighting to have his views seen and heard and this represents the fighter in him.”
