About this artwork

Have you ever felt like you were losing touch with yourself? When lightness gives way to anxiety, and serenity is replaced by the weight of responsibility? Slowly, almost imperceptibly, we change — adapting to circumstances, losing the part of ourselves that was once sincere and true.
This piece captures that moment of inner transformation, when we risk forgetting who we used to be. Venus — the symbol of eternal beauty — becomes a metaphor for… fading wholeness. Even ideals are not eternal. Their dissolution mirrors our own sense of loss and the search for a new self.
The series of five paintings, Mirage of Youth, is a reflection on the transition from youth to maturity. In these works, fear, nostalgia, and acceptance intertwine. The classical statues dissolve over time, while pink and yellow represent the inner child and the soul — everything that helps us stay connected to who we truly are through the process of growing up.

- Works on commission
I am Yulia Graf (Grafskaya), an artist exploring the depths of the human soul through symbolism and conceptual imagery. My work lies on the border between dream and reality, reflecting inner experiences and the search for meaning.
I strive to show that people are not alone in their fears, doubts, and emotions. As an introvert, I study the complexity of the human soul and its subpersonalities to better understand myself and help viewers discover new aspects of their identity with acceptance and awareness.
I work in series, allowing me to explore each theme more deeply and from different angles. I use acrylic, oil, and tempera.
I’ve been drawing since childhood—at the age of six, I decided to become an artist and have never strayed from that path. I explored various fields such as design, illustration, and digital art, but returned to painting, as it is my true language of self-expression.
