About this artwork
This work is about a woman who learns to be herself without begging for a place under someone else's sky. She looks deep inside herself because she knows that the real light is inside.
The phrase ‘don't cry out to the moon’ is an internal dialogue with yourself, which tells you not to look for answers in the cold outside world, because your strength is inside.
Streams of colour and delicate silhouettes convey a state of search and self-acceptance.…
This is one of the paintings from the series where I combined fluid with traditional painting, as I consider this option to be the closest to the realisation of my ideas now.
The painting was painted in mixed media, with acrylic, oil and varnish paints, using acrylic markers in some places, on canvas pre-primed with a special material for flexibility and water resistance, which gives the canvas a soft effect.
The fluid technique has a characteristic texture and glare.
The inscription on the painting is written in Ukrainian.
YULIIA PORAIKO (PALIJ) Born in 1990 in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine Lives and works in Rochester, USA
In her artistic practice, Yuliia explores femininity, female nature, and its energy. Central to her work are themes of love, motherhood, and the importance of freedom as an essential element of the feminine essence.
She highlights various states of women in the contemporary world, addressing everyday challenges, self-realization, fatigue, inner contradictions, and the ongoing search for balance.
Through her artistic practice, the artist draws the viewer’s attention to phenomena that are seemingly obvious yet often remain invisible in everyday life, particularly within the context of female experience. Her paintings frequently speak through metaphor, inviting personal interpretation and emotional engagement.
