About this artwork
This painting is from the series ‘Soul’.
In the series, I explore different states of a woman as a natural phenomenon - spontaneous, deep, and light.
This particular work reflects the inner fatigue, burnout and indifference, mostly in women, which comes as a result of overuse of their internal and physical resources.
The inscription ‘I'd rather sleep’ is a small, but most likely false hope to dig out of the hole.
I use such inscriptions to make… it easier to understand the ideology in my works.
I used a mixed technique, namely: fluid art and traditional painting.
YULIIA PORAIKO (PALIJ) Born in 1990 in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine Lives and works in Rochester, USA
In her artistic practice, Yuliia explores femininity, female nature, and its energy. Central to her work are themes of love, motherhood, and the importance of freedom as an essential element of the feminine essence.
She highlights various states of women in the contemporary world, addressing everyday challenges, self-realization, fatigue, inner contradictions, and the ongoing search for balance.
Through her artistic practice, the artist draws the viewer’s attention to phenomena that are seemingly obvious yet often remain invisible in everyday life, particularly within the context of female experience. Her paintings frequently speak through metaphor, inviting personal interpretation and emotional engagement.
