About this artwork
In classical mythology a centaur is an animal with a man’s torso and the body of a horse. This new series concerns the unification of rider and horse, where the rider is akin and in harmony with the mount. The overall image becoming the "centaur."
It is usual that the rider and horse share a common, mutual bond, often knowing each others thoughts.

« I'm dedicated and obsessive with the mark making procedure - the descriptive elements of figurative painting when paint becomes optical form. »
Zil Hoque is a British painter with an abounding fascination for the Spanish culture. Working principally in oils, Hoque combines delicate and loose figurative expressionist techniques to capture the essential elements of his subjects. Each subject tends to be on a neutral background, focusing the observer’s eye on the unwinding drama. Indeed, for Hoque, it’s often what he chooses to omit from a painting that emphasizes its key message.
