About this artwork
Churches have always impressed me, often with their beauty and with the serenity I feel when I walk in their space….
To create this painting, I sometimes used a knife, sometimes large brushes.
Today, with the paintbrushes, I have rediscovered the flexibility and freedom of expression that the use of my cello bow once allowed me. My pictorial work explores silent and still spaces. Horizons attract me, as do walls that hide, protect and hold back, and mysterious paths whose future is unknown, all of which fascinate me. To make this imaginary world visible, I mainly use curved lines which, for me, symbolize life. When I sometimes paint characters, they are just as anonymous as the enigmatic places they inhabit.
My painting reflects my own image and that of many human beings, alone yet aware of the beauty of silent calm.
