As an artist-traveler with much curiosity about the world I am exposed to unfamiliar places that challenge my perceptions, expand my ideas and ultimately inform my life and my work. I participate in artist residencies all over the world. Places that have snow, ice, rain, rivers, foliage, big skies and oceans—scenic beauty that is sometimes dramatic, sometimes… soft as cashmere fascinate me and reflect in my work. I am influenced, inspired and affected by the atmosphere around me—the collective energy in a room, the persona of a country where I’m traveling or living or the natural world that surrounds me. My reductive oil paintings reflect the essence of ‘place’ by the use of color that elicits the memories, sensations and the worldviews of an environment.
