About this artwork
In this painting I sought to capture the poignant beauty of fading sunflowers, symbolizing resilience and grace in the midst of decline. Using a combination of impressionism and realism, I depicted their vibrant yet fading forms against the somber tones of old bottles, evoking reflection on the fleeting yet beautiful stages of life.
In creating this painting I was primarily thinking about how in our three-dimensional world, we often get stuck in… one-dimensional thinking, focusing solely on our own needs and failing to notice the presence of others and how they reflect upon us. As we strive for our place in the sun, we overlook how those close to us gradually veer off and obstruct our path.
