About this artwork
I painted this piece while going through a tough time in my life. I was experiencing PPD (Postpartum Depression) and the changes and it brought to my life and relationships. This painting expresses the struggle of a woman living in an eastern culture, it represents a woman made of silver carrying a child in gold like the golden egg all while carrying the whole house on her head representing the household responsibilities added with motherhood. The…
shadows in the house are people/relatives looking at her every move from every angle and judging her. I wanted to visualise the pressure women feel and the burden they carry throughout their mother hood.
