A curation by claire artemyz, Owner at Galerie Le Cerisier - Grisaille is a technique using shades of gray ranging from black to white. It was found in trompe l'oeil and decorative panels in the 18th century, or as the first stage of Renaissance painting. Today, black has reached its peak with Soulages (Outrenoir), while black and white occupies an important place among the Abstract Expressionists. It is a way to make painting more intense by giving it a symbolic meaning.
This selection features paintings, mostly acrylic and inks.
