Color Before Company - curated by Natalie Slater

A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - ‘Color Before Company’ is a curation of interior scenes in which color takes precedence over narrative, figure, and function. Across painting and works on paper, interior spaces are built through bold planes, saturated surfaces, and deliberate chromatic tension. Figures and objects remain present, but they do not lead. Walls, floors, and architectural divisions command the compositions, asserting themselves as active elements rather than backdrops. Color shapes movement through the room, dictates scale, and determines where attention rests. These interiors are not neutral settings. They are environments that overwhelm, absorb, and hold the viewer in place. To enter them is to recognize that presence belongs first to the space itself—and only second to those who inhabit it.
