Constructed Illusions - curated by Natalie Slater

A curation by Natalie Slater, Art Agent at Snap Collective - A curation of contemporary painters working in dialogue with the language of modernist abstraction. At first glance, these works read like structures—planes, facades, corridors of color. Yet, the longer one looks, the more the architecture slips. Boundaries waver, shadows dissolve, and surfaces flatten into perception itself. What feels solid begins to move. Each artist negotiates that tension between order and uncertainty. Their compositions—rooted in geometry, rhythm, and balance—resist stillness. Layers of pigment act as walls and windows, revealing a space that is both built and imagined. ‘Constructed Illusions’ exists in that in-between: where color becomes its own architecture, and structure becomes the illusion we keep rebuilding with our eyes.
