Elastic Bodies - curated by Natalie Slater

A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - The body has long served as one of art’s most enduring subjects. In these works, however, it becomes something less certain. Anatomical conventions give way to fractured perspectives, exaggerated proportions, and unexpected compositions that shift attention from resemblance to expression. Working across distinct visual languages, these artists reshape the figure without losing its humanity. Distortion becomes a means of revealing character, emotion, and psychological complexity, allowing the familiar to appear unexpectedly new. Together, these works invite us to reconsider the body not as a fixed image, but as an evolving language—one capable of holding contradiction, vulnerability, and imagination in equal measure.
