En-Pointe: Line, Elevation, Weightlessness - curated by Vlad Merariu

A curation by Vlad Merariu, Curator at Dance Artworks Gallery - This collection reads en-pointe as both technique and image. From Romantic origins—when pointe work shaped the illusion of weightlessness—to neoclassical and contemporary stages, the foot becomes a drawing instrument: line extended, axis sharpened, breath held in suspension. Across painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, artists register the shimmer of bourrées, the attack of piqués, the quiet tremor of a sustained balance. Close-ups trace satin, rosin, and strain; long exposures translate motion into light; charcoal and impasto score the body’s geometry. Diverse visions, one choreographic idea: elevation as emotion - where form rises against gravity and movement turns discipline into grace.
