In Full Growth - curated by Natalie Slater

A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - The gardens in this selection are painted loosely, sometimes to the point where individual flowers nearly disappear. A stem might be a quick stroke, a bloom a patch of pink or yellow, a path only a break between areas of green. Still, the garden is unmistakably there. Across these works, the artists rely on color and gesture to convey its abundance. Paint gathers in dense passages, flowers spill into one another, and areas of foliage become almost entirely abstract. There is little interest in botanical precision. What matters is the sensation of being surrounded by something growing, unruly, and full of color. The garden becomes less a carefully arranged subject than something experienced in passing—lush, shifting, and impossible to take in all at once.
