Inanimate objects - curated by Rose Boutboul

A curation by Rose Boutboul, Independent Curator at - This collection reinvents the classic still-life genre by juxtaposing it with contemporary textures and perspectives. Far from being a mere exercise in style, it explores the silent presence of objects through a wide variety of renderings: there are impeccably executed oil paintings on canvas, playing on the velvety texture of fruit or the brilliance of glassware, as well as more graphic acrylics that break down forms into bold blocks of color. The curation also highlights works on paper, where watercolor and pastel lend an almost ethereal lightness to the compositions. Between photographic realism and semi-abstract palette knife interpretations, each piece uses the materiality of the support to capture the everyday, transforming ordinary elements into veritable contemplative icons.
