A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - This selection brings together a group of works by Patrick Piccinelli shaped directly through music.
Each painting is made while a specific track is playing—its title carried into the work. The connection stays embedded in the process. Tone, tempo, and phrasing register through the surface rather than through depiction.
The work shifts with what’s heard. Slower passages settle into measured blocks and held space; sharper, more percussive moments break through in ink, splatter, and interruption. Lines tighten or loosen. Color holds or moves. The composition adjusts in real time, following the cadence of the track.
Piccinelli keeps the structure intact, but never fixed. The result is a body of work that moves between control and release, shaped by what’s playing and decided in the moment it’s made.
