A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - 'Reflections of Obsession' is a curated selection of painters and photographers whose works explore the charged encounter between subject and mirror. Faces appear doubled, fragmented, or estranged—sometimes meeting their own gaze, sometimes refusing it. In certain compositions, the sitter lingers in an unsettling exchange with their reflection, while in others the mirrored image drifts into water or glass, dissolving certainty into distortion. Cropped close-ups, compact mirrors, and blurred surfaces all suggest an uneasy intimacy, a compulsion to see and be seen. This curation dwells not on vanity but on the psychological weight of reflection: the mirror as witness, as accomplice, as rival.
