A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - The body is pushed beyond realism in this selection, stretched, layered, multiplied, and exaggerated until it becomes something unfamiliar. Figures fold into themselves, merge with one another, dissolve into line, or expand into unexpected proportions, turning the nude into something expressive rather than idealized.
Working across painting, drawing, and mixed media, these artists approach the figure with a sense of play. Color shifts from natural to electric, anatomy bends without explanation, and compositions feel intentionally off balance. The result is a group of works where distortion becomes its own visual language, making the familiar body feel strange all over again.
