A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - 'Vertical Crossings' is a curatorial selection of works that organize space through the repeated logic of the vertical line.
Across painting, abstraction, and materially driven surface, each artist approaches verticality as both structure and interruption: elongated marks descend through fields of color, rigid bands divide the picture plane, and stacked chromatic intervals establish rhythm, pause, and movement. In some works, the line reads as atmospheric and spatial; in others, it remains graphic, architectural, or serial.
Seen together, these vertical passages function less as motif than as a shared formal condition—guiding the eye upward and downward while repeatedly cutting across depth, surface, and color.
