A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - 'Whispers in Pastel' brings together painters and mixed-media artists whose works reimagine the garden as a space of abstraction, elegance, and reverie. Across the curation, delicate palettes of rose, lilac, mint, and pale blue unfold into compositions that oscillate between figuration and abstraction—at times dissolving into expressive gesture, at others resolving into the fragile contours of petals, figures, and gatherings.
Some works evoke the softened blur of a flowering garden glimpsed in passing; others recall the refined ritual of a fête at Versailles, rendered through a contemporary, abstracted lens. The figures that do appear emerge as spectral presences—bodies in pastel drift, walking within gardens that are at once idyllic and elusive.
Taken together, these works invite the viewer into a modern pastoral: a dreamscape of color and form where the language of abstraction meets the delicacy of nature’s bloom.
