About this artwork
“And the lamp? - he asked.
_It's a beacon for solitaire night owls,
A shard in the darkness
Looking out the window makes me feel that loneliness is a taciturn morsel I like to eat in silence.
And the chair? - he asked.
Sometimes I tire of searching and wait, sitting and watching people pass by at dusk; some become Passersby in my dreams.
The essential is the color, the warmth of the moment. When I lie down, I look at that corner and remember… the times I had to paint my face in the air so I wouldn't forget to breathe, to remember how happy I've been resisting before the dawn.”
/ Sebastián Paez
« In the Sky, there is no transition between Red and Blue [only Green and Orange]. But then there is the Earth... and the Brown appears. Earth is the transition between Sky and Water [between Red and Blue]. »
Alejandro Mariotti, mainly self-taught and with studies in stamping and engraving, uses a wide variety of media, from ink, watercolour, acrylic or oil, to natural pigments and fluorescent paints. His approach is essentially experimental, with expressionist and impressionist overtones, exploring light and color with a unique sensitivity through motifs captured live directly from observation. His works generally straddle the line between figurative and abstract. He seeks to convey spontaneous impressions, pushing formal boundaries and awakening in the viewer a sense of freshness, creative freedom, and a deep connection with the moment.
