About this artwork
"The Rabbit" is a 70 × 70 cm acrylic artwork constructed like a contemporary mosaic. Each "pixel" is hand-painted in a different color, contributing to the gradual emergence of the image.
Up close, the eye is lost in a multitude of vibrant hues; from afar, the rabbit appears with gentleness and precision. This duality between abstraction and figuration is at the heart of my intention: to show how unity emerges from diversity.
Through this meticulous… work, I explore perception, patience, and the visual magic that transforms an infinity of fragments into a living presence.
Baudouin de Lambilly, a self-taught painter with a background in communications, primarily works in painting and established himself in the field of animal art after a brief stint at the Maison des Artistes (Artists' House). He deconstructs and reconstructs his subjects by layering blocks of vibrant color, often placing the animal against plain, minimalist backgrounds, with deliberately off-center compositions. His vibrant style blends modernity and visual tension, seeking to capture the intense presence of life. His works invite an immediate and silent connection, filling the viewer with a raw and suspended emotion.
