About this artwork
The Bösebrücke stands at the historical gateway between east and west in Berlin. A representative figure moves forward into the west. In this painting, I explored the transient yet impassioned dialogues that spaces in our cities hold, captured through layers of water-soluble pigments. I wanted every stroke and color choice to embody the raw dialogue and emotions etched in this urban landscape. The snippets of graffiti, washed in swaths of cool blues… and grays, are whispers of resistance, history, and existence that echo beyond the concrete. Infusing your space with this artwork means embracing the beautiful complexity and unseen voices of a cityscape with every glance.
David Antonides, a dynamic visual artist, has mastered the fields of painting, printmaking, and sculpting. Embracing the fluidity and unpredictability of watercolor on a monumental scale, he infuses Asian calligraphy's grace and de Kooning's verve into his urban landscapes. His artworks echo the eternal dance between the organic and inorganic, seeking harmony among the chaos of city life, a poignant reminder of our collective humanity, shadowed by a subliminal optimist undercurrent.
