An alluring city that symbolizes the potential for a better life, one that adventurers and entrepreneurs have been searching for for centuries. But is it a reality, or a city paved with disappointment and despair?
Tycho abstracted photographs that he had taken of cities such as Paris, London, New York and Tokyo, but focused more on the forms, colours, energy… and atmosphere of a busy urban centre, rather than create an accurate illustration of a particular street or city. The colours have been exaggerated and saturated, giving the painting an air of fantasy. It looks so delicious. Why don't you take a bite?
This is not one big city--it is all big cities, distilled into one artwork. The technique was rapid application of many layers of paint using palette knives, in an expressionistic fashion.
