About this artwork
I paint by shaping, engraving, carving, using wood blocks and strips to stamp onto heavy paper, canvas, or gesso board. The technique for applying acrylic varies from rolling acrylic onto the wood and stamping by hand to using a mallet to immerse the wood in acrylic, overloading it, and then hand-stamping or mallet-stamping. Acrylic is applied over the existing prints, causing the medium to "mix' or "stretch", creating unique images and colors.…
I prefer to work with only the primary colors, black and white. The impact of the "printing" forces the colors to integrate, blend when the wood is slightly moved, twisted, or scraped during the application. Every viewer will see what their eyes and memories guide them to behold and connect with the art. Which is why I create.
