About this artwork
From my collection of the 7 deadly sins, this one represents Greed. Money alone is not the subject of greed, so it is the story of a scholar, a learned man, a master of knowledge. Miserly, and disappointed in humanity, he dies alone in a cave that no one can find. His knowledge: in the form of a golden light, never shared, has changed his skull into gold. Immutable and precious, with only a guardian serpent as his companion, eternal.
