About this artwork
When I painted these sakura blossoms, I was thinking about how spring can feel almost too delicate to be real. Branches carry clouds of pale pink petals, yet everything seems weightless, as if one breeze could carry the scene away. I wanted to preserve that tenderness: soft cherry blooms layered against light and sky, with brushstrokes kept loose and alive.
Part of my Breathing Color series, this painting focuses on presence rather than detail, on… the way color creates air and quiet movement. On a wall, it brings luminous calm and gentle warmth, especially in spaces with natural light, wood, and soft textiles.
Sakura blossoms remind us that beauty is fleeting. I painted them as a quiet invitation to notice the sweetness of now.
Elena Murtazin works in oil painting and silk painting, building on her deep background in applied arts and textile design. She weaves expressive realism with abstract elements, using bold gestural marks and layered textures in oils, and harnessing the softness and unpredictable flow of dyes on silk. Her evocative pieces balance structure with spontaneity, and channel nature not as mere subject but as an emotional, energetic presence—each artwork ultimately conveying a quiet intensity and an expansive sense of inner connection to the world.
