About this artwork
This bouquet of white and purple peonies began for me as a memory of that moment when a room suddenly feels brighter just because someone puts flowers on the table. I wanted the canvas to hold that same quiet miracle: petals opening in waves of cream, lilac and deep plum, leaning into each other, almost too many for one vase. Painted with generous, layered brushstrokes so the flowers feel almost sculpted from colour and light.
In a home, this piece… has a way of softening the atmosphere while still feeling confident and bold. The rich purples bring depth and sophistication, while the whites keep everything luminous and fresh. It works beautifully as a main artwork in a living room, bedroom or dining space, especially in interiors with neutral walls, wood, stone or soft textiles. This is the kind of floral painting that makes a space feel curated and intimate at the same time – like a room that is truly lived
Elena Murtazin works in oil painting and silk painting, building on her deep background in applied arts and textile design. She weaves expressive realism with abstract elements, using bold gestural marks and layered textures in oils, and harnessing the softness and unpredictable flow of dyes on silk. Her evocative pieces balance structure with spontaneity, and channel nature not as mere subject but as an emotional, energetic presence—each artwork ultimately conveying a quiet intensity and an expansive sense of inner connection to the world.
