About this artwork
Inspired on the notion of time, the continued sequence of existence and events happening in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future. This piece uses Simon Hantai and Jackson Pollock, "action" approaches to painting. This piece started as an original folding art (Hantai style) piece on a denim blue fabric creating vertical lines representing time periods and squares on the edges as the celluloid film.… On a second session, I created a central star as a guide folding, tying, scrunching, then dousing with white gesso covered with orange paint, and unfolding it. The third session was more spontaneous and Pollokian with a combination of spatula and paint dripping. I used a flexible denim to let me better impress the relativity of time. Acrylic paint and gesso on a denim fabric 36 x 60," piece has not been stretched yet and well be shipped rolled on a tube, well protected in a light rectangular box.
