About this artwork
In this work, I have captured tension and movement by uniquely combining charcoal, graphite, lacquer, and sand. The abstract composition is intended to draw the viewer into a pulsating energy that is both raw and vibrant. It brings a powerful dynamism to any space and invites the discovery of ever-new details and depths. This piece speaks of power and transformation on a deeply sensual level.
The perfectly glossy lacquer (white for purity and innocence,… and gold for wealth, prosperity, and abundance) is disrupted by a wild, unruly brushstroke. The underlying surface cracks open. The circle, representing harmony, is still faintly discernible. A story about life with all its highs and lows.
Felicitas Willgeroth uses a variety of media, including painting, performing arts, and bodywork, drawing on extensive training in fine art painting and acting. Her technique is passionate and vibrant—she works with dynamic, powerful gestures, combines contrasting materials such as lacquer with sand, gold with dirt, and deliberately breaks with perfection. Through her play with chaos and harmony, as well as socio-critical themes, she conveys powerful emotions ranging from pain to lightness, always imbued with authenticity and a deep striving for freedom.
