About this artwork
Oil on canvas painting on the legendary Matterhorn, the most iconic mountain around the world. As I live in Switzerland and I love painting the Alps, I couldn't miss to paint Matterhorn big format! I spent the whole day on my cross-country skis shooting it from every angle and I particularly love this perspective because it is intimidating.
I kept it realistic but if you look closely, using precise brushstrokes in oil, I aimed to convey the realistic… texture of the snow carrying subtle colour shifts and the solidity of the rock. The sky is pure blue. Noon light, early spring. Right angle, right light, right moment…
I wanted to capture the pure majesty and powerful solitude of this iconic mountain exuding a calm and inspiring energy, a reminder of nature’s raw beauty that invites deep contemplation.
