About this artwork
This is my first piece of pottery - when it came from the kiln, I smashed it on the floor, intentionally. I wanted to break it down and rebuild it in the same process that people rebuild and rise from the ashes after every situation.
The face is calm, in great peace and in an intimate state of mind, the eyes closed, but other eyes are open and see from the blue cloud of the head, which represents the imagination of our mind.

« The stories of each character, isolated in an intimate and personal dimension, are reflections on human values, perceptions and emotions. »
Francesca Dalla Benetta is an Italian sculptor based in Mexico. After 10 years working as a makeup artist in the film industry, Dalla Benetta is now a dedicated full-time artist. Her work is characterized by anatomies and mixed forms. Faces and human bodies are combined with different textures, skins and elements, giving rise to hybrid and fantastic beings. Through unusual, strange and surreal bodies, her pieces focus on the problems of transformation, identity, the sense of belonging, self-perception and dreams.
