About this artwork
Semiosis (SE2018004)
Acrylic and spray on paper, cm. 42x42 (inner image 19x19)
2018
The painting is signed on back. Signature can be applied on front too. It's framed and ready to hang, with a white mat and black wooden edges, reaching a final dimension of 42x42 cm., with an inner image of 19x19 cm, as shown in the images.
The "Semiosis" series is realized with a particular process in which the white painting re-emerges on the surface working in… negative through successive black layers, making the final result very flat and extremely detailed in a way that recalls some printing techniques.
The series explores the root of the sign and its process of signification.
Semiosis: an action or process involving the establishment of a relationship between a sign and its object and meaning.
« A revelation, or at least its premonition, is what should manifest in every painting. »
Francesco D’Adamo is a talented Italian painter whose works have widely featured in exhibitions nationally, as well in publications, shows and collections throughout Europe. Seeking to create a wordless language through his art, he composes abstract paintings marked by broad, sweeping brush strokes, a highly pigmented colour palette and a soft musicality. D'Adamo draws inspiration from a range of artistic movements and figures including Informalism, Lyrical Abstraction and Willem De Kooning.
