About this artwork
The painting is signed on back and comes ready to hang, with a wooden floating frame, black in color, as shown in the images and video, reaching a final size of 120,5x135,5x3,5 cm. The frame has three anchor points to better handle the weight of the painting and it's shipped by the artist in a wooden crate. "Troy" is painting n° 51 from the Hidden Cities series
The “Hidden Cities” series by Francesco D'Adamo was started in 2016 and it's still in… progress. These compositions are characterized by the use of large areas of erosion and fracture, obtained with a skilful use of painting materials. The overall structure is buried and re-emerged in a continuous process of redefinition of the visible layers. The Hidden Cities becomes here a metaphor for what finds its own form and identity in the encounter and confrontation with its own historical and temporal context. D'adamo here creates paintings far from being archaeological places, but in continuous evolution.
« A revelation, or at least its premonition, is what should manifest in every painting. »
Francesco D’Adamo is a talented Italian painter whose works have widely featured in exhibitions nationally, as well in publications, shows and collections throughout Europe. Seeking to create a wordless language through his art, he composes abstract paintings marked by broad, sweeping brush strokes, a highly pigmented colour palette and a soft musicality. D'Adamo draws inspiration from a range of artistic movements and figures including Informalism, Lyrical Abstraction and Willem De Kooning.
