About this artwork
The sculpture Bed Of Roses is a border crosser between waking and sleeping
Slipping into sleep is crossing an unclear boundary. Our orderly thoughts and the impressions of the day merge with fragmentary memories to form dream-like impressions and scenes. Most of us don't even notice when we cross this boundary as we fall asleep, because it is often a continuous process. Sometimes we even experience hallucination-like states, hear voices, see images… or feel movements that aren't actually happening.
The sculpture attempts to capture the moment of borderline consciousness, the trance-like twilight state before we slip into sleep.
