About this artwork
"Nus" (nudes), "Nous" (mind): these two words, distant in both language (one French, the other Greek), and meaning, have been brought together to name the exhibition in a play of assonance and recall, drawing on Giuseppe Persia's most recent photographic work, the fruit of an artistic journey begun in the mid-1970s. This journey is distinguished by the originality of its conception and its results, which have led the artist to achieve in photography…
what is more easily achieved in painting or sculpture using other materials. Persia, on the other hand, using a glorious old brass relic from the 19th century for his compositions—a French lens and a 10x12 cm camera—operated at close range from his chosen subjects, focusing the lens on specific details that, when magnified dramatically, appear as "eidetic entities" transcending reality. The work measures 50x40 cm, without frame 30x40 cm.
