About this artwork
This painting shows a simple, peaceful scene — a countryside landscape viewed from an open window. I combined the calm green hills and distant red-roofed houses with a table setup in the foreground to create a sense of everyday comfort and warmth.
The red poppies in the vase add contrast and energy to the softer background tones. I chose strong colors like red, green, and yellow to balance calmness and brightness. The table, with two glasses and… a slice of cake, adds a human touch — a suggestion of presence without showing a figure.
My goal was to bring together landscape and still life in one frame, focusing on color harmony and composition. It’s a moment of quiet observation — both familiar and slightly idealized.
Gulshaba Abbasova, an Azerbaijani painter based in Baku, works primarily with oil on canvas and honed her skills through private mentorship and persistent self-study. She employs layered brushstrokes and a delicate interplay of vibrant colors, light, and shadow to create depth and serenity, often depicting themes of nature and introspection. Her paintings radiate warmth, tranquility, and invite viewers to discover beauty and inner peace in the quiet moments of life.
