About this artwork
Ghetto Blaster echoes a time when music was played loudly, worn over the shoulder like a banner. The faceless silhouette becomes the emblem of a free and noisy urban youth, while the colorful MTV logo lights up the canvas like a pop icon. Between the hypnotic pattern of the fabric and the metallic mass of the boombox, an encounter between street and media, between raw energy and global image, takes place. Here, music is not just a sound: it is a… territory, an attitude, a living memory.
Imane Dejardin was born in Liège (Belgium) in December 1975. Since her early childhood, she has experimented with many forms of artistic expression, but it's in painting that she has found the best way to express herself! After taking part in art workshops for several years, she graduated in painting at the Académie des Beaux Arts in Arlon (Belgium), where she was congratulated by the jury. Emotion is at the heart of her artistic journey. Like an ode to life, her work is colorful and full of energy. Creativity and imagination are the key words guiding her painting.
