About this artwork
In my artwork I use collage and gouache to create an abstract, minimalist and symbolic representation. The piece explores the tension between order and chaos, expressed in the precisely cut letters and the unbridled flow of gouache lines. It expresses a search for balance and the beauty in imperfection. This artwork expresses a dynamic yet thoughtful energy.
Ines Saalfrank, a painter and conceptual artist, uses paper, canvas and various media to visualize thoughts. Her art is characterized by precise technique, the reduction to the essential, the essence of a movement or a train of thought brought to the point with technical skill. She uses ink, watercolor and gouache to express things, sometimes minimalistically, sometimes as a collage, that would otherwise require many words. Saalfrank's art evokes serious emotions, but also reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously.
