About this artwork
This work explores human relationships through tension, proximity, and emotional pressure rather than harmony.
The figures overlap and partially dissolve into one another, suggesting how identity is shaped within relationships. Faces remain unfinished, blurred by layers of paint and charcoal, as if constantly adjusting to the presence of the other.
I work on canvas using mixed media, combining hand-applied paint, charcoal, and layers of original… newspaper from the 1960s. These aged papers carry traces of past voices, social rules, and expectations that still influence how we relate today. Embedded beneath the surface, they function as a silent weight — memory pressing into the body.
The raw textures and visible marks emphasize vulnerability. Nothing is polished or resolved. The figures are not portraits, but emotional states: holding, leaning, resisting, and enduring.
This work reflects on how closeness can both connect and constrain, leaving lasting traces on the self.
