About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the essence of transformation and energy. The expressive acrylic stabs and fiery colors evoke a kind of chaotic birth, a crack in the ordinary that gives way to new perspectives. It represents beauty in dislocation, a sliver of light escaping through the cracks of our reality. Each viewer is invited to explore their own emotional impact when faced with the canvas, the presence of this piece in a home will undeniably… bring a thoughtful dynamism and conceptual depth.
« There is a magical moment when the will seems to diverge in favor of an image that is essential. »
J-Claude Bernard is a prizewinning painter from Réunion with national exposure and work held in permanent collections worldwide. Working with a palette knife and acrylics, Bernard superimposes layers of soft colors and gestural forms to create abstract paintings that evoke a sense of movement and calm. On his canvases, human forms and gentle landscapes appear organically, sometimes almost hidden among the textured brush strokes.
