About this artwork
This sculpture was the result of collaboration with The Naples Therapeutic Riding Center, UAC is excited to showcase the new UAC "Artist in Residency" Joel Shapses, Julie Pekrul, and David Mancini.
The residency allowed the artists to use the space on NTRC's property for a duration of 4 months. The 3 UAC artists were selected based off a submission process and created art that allowed the environment to inspire their work.
NTRC's mission aligns… with UAC's in that our focus is on healing and improving lives through our work. NTRC is located at 206 Ridge Dr. Naples, FL 34109 .
I created several new works using different mediums. With this sculptural artwork I used canvas as my background and hardening clay resin as my medium to create the five horses.
« I personify an enigmatic constant of precision and release. »
Joel Shapses is an experienced American sculptor - and former dentist - whose works have earned places in permanent collections, prizes and exhibitions across the country. He expresses abstract forms with signature portrayals of balance and movement, always arousing each viewer's tactile senses and encouraging them to explore each form in greater depth.
