About this artwork
This sculpture was created from an irregular shaped strawberry alabaster. Since my intension was to create an abstract piece, irregular shaped stones best suit my needs. In this case the stone and I worked together to sculpt an abstract sculpture.
While I began working on it, certain forms and shapes began to emerge from the stone. This happens in a few different ways. Sometimes there are veins or areas of the stone that need to be circumvented in… order to maintain the integrity of the finished piece.
As it turned out, I was able to finish the sculpture with all the curves and nuances that give it a graceful feeling of balance.
