About this artwork
One of my favorite sculptors was Jean Arp, a pioneer in sculpture using free forms and abstraction. He had a great influence in my forms.
In this sculpture I have created his use of simplicity helped me to sculpt this stone. The alabaster piece started out as a long narrow object. As I began carving it, I wanted to retain the form of the stone by adding flowing curves to give the sculpture an elegant female quality.
