About this artwork
The Taj Mahal is an imposing and inspirational monument visited by millions of people each year. In order to present my impression of the building and its' perpetual state I captured several images of the architecture and layered them in semi-transparent layers to create the impression of time passing and people visiting. The final step was to superimpose a non-transparent layer of the selected figures and then merge the whole image.

John Brooks is a British visual artist who is currently living and working in Bristol, UK. Through his photography, Brooks wishes to project a visual and emotional response that extends far beyond the pictorial. His photographs, both analogue and digital, often employ a layering affect where a subject becomes doubled or tripled, thereby creating an illusion of volume, depth and spatiality. His photographs can reflect the imposing nature of urbanism and play with perspective to create an illusory world.
His other works include well though through abstract studies and minimalist works, some architectural and some topographical.
