About this artwork
An original oil painting of shells, shell skeletons and sea anemones lying in a tidal pool. She worked on this artwork for over a year painting hundreds of shells one by one with great detail, in layers upon layers of paint. At the end she painted transparent glazes of turquoise ocean water gently flowing over the shells to give the painting movement. It's a one of a kind like no other. She enjoys painting the random way that the shells are scattered… in the tide pools as well as the multitude of patterns and colors in this unique artwork. The story behind this painting is that while staying in Mangawhai, New Zealand, they went for a walk along the beach one afternoon with their 2 dogs. At the end of the beach there is a lava rock outcropping with tide pools that are filled with thousands of beautiful shells and sea life. She decided to paint do a series of paintings of them.
