About this artwork
In this series entitled Mythics Horses, the horse is used as a medium for the expression of movement. The compositions are colorful, the shapes structure the plastic space to move away from the laws of representation. The arrangement is musical, rhythmic.
In this theme I wanted to explore the horses that have marked my imagination. From literature, history or sport, they celebrate natural power, and are an invigorating reminder of the instinct… and passion that lie dormant in each of us.
Here is depicted Bucephalus, the horse of Alexander the Great, which he alone managed to train. He followed him in his conquests in Asia, participating in the greatest battles.
Laure Saigne, trained in oil painting from a young age, also excels in different techniques such as linocut, pastel, charcoal, and watercolor. His style is resolutely expressionist, and his preferences are for representations of horses. By playing with techniques, Saigne releases an expressiveness that translates a personal quest linked to dreams and the inner truth of things.
