About this artwork
With "FAKE," I launch a visual provocation on authenticity in the age of exhibitionism. Part of the PLAYBOY POP series, this work reimagines the first, historic Playboy cover featuring Marilyn Monroe, an enduring symbol of allure that here becomes a battleground between myth and constructed reality.
The work stems from a critical reflection on the desire to stand out at all costs: images designed solely to be noticed that, once revealed, are revealed… to be "empty" or artificial. At the center, Marilyn shines, surrounded by a visual noise of tags like "Fake Tits" and "Money." I used collage and acrylic to layer this fiction; the insert of real fabric at the top right breaks the two-dimensionality, like reality tearing through the mask.
Through dripping and the symbols of luxury, I expose the fragility of those who live for the approval of others, inviting us to discover what really lies beneath the veneer of appearances.

Lukajan, aka Gianluca Palazzolo, was born in Acireale, Sicily, in 1982. After studying at the Art High School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania, he moved to Sardinia in 2003, embarking on a career in renewable energy and specializing in marketing and communications. In 2009, he joined the Rotary Club, actively participating in its initiatives.
Her work in the field of sustainability profoundly influences her art, which focuses on transformation, regeneration, and the relationship between humanity, nature, and technology. The use of found materials and experimentation with painting, collage, appliqué, sculpture, and installation define her eclectic style.
In 2020, he began working on digital art; in 2021, he created his first NFT, Sardinian Soul, and collaborated with organizations such as The NFT Mag and Cadaf. His art conveys inclusion, awareness, and harmony.
