About this artwork
The artwork is a composition of four paintings (80x30x2 cm each), framed in a floater frame (82.5x122.5x3.5cm).
In "Ready or Not," a visual tension unfolds between control and chaos. Four adjacent panels depict dark, almost sooty structures, crisscrossed by vibrant rays of color in yellow, pink, cyan, and white. The rhythmically arranged vertical bands evoke digital glitches or the flickering of urban light sources at night. Drop-like textures and… spontaneous explosions of color give the work a sense of life—like a moment just before a decision or a turning point.
The quadraticch creates a pull that sweeps the viewer along, without giving any clear indication as to whether the moment of unfolding has already begun—or is still pending. Ready or not—the movement has long since begun.
Maja Weller is an accomplished painter who uses acrylic and modeling paste, pigments and lime, gold foil and art metal in her works. Her artistic practice is characterized by spontaneous expression, while her techniques create a special dynamic and texture in the paintings. Her artworks, although abstract, represent harmonious reflections of the past, present and future, inviting the viewer to linger in the present moment.
